Love this portrait. Up close and intimate. Of an entertainer during the Elephant Festival in Jaipur, India. What about painting this? Repost from @natgeotraveler and photo credits to @magnumji #natgeo #natgeotraveler #traveler

Had a hell of a ride today out at sea. Sailed out beyond the demarcated training waters into the open shipping channel. We reached a cold front where the winds were stronger and I capsized, got back up (without too much difficulty), then my sailing buddy capsized and uprighted as well. All was still good till we got too close to each other, trying to see if everything was alright - Then I capsized and her boat sailed right over my sail and my boat turtled - meaning my boat not only went over sideways, its hull was facing skywards.. With the sail vertically down underwater. Once you’re turtled and the winds start coming strong and the rain pours - you’re screwed - and that’s what basically happened today.
Out there in the open sea at the mercy of the rain, winds, waves, tides with nowhere to disembark and the shore not within sight - I felt so vulnerable.
It’s a marvel I somehow got the boat back upright. And a miracle I made the long (arduous) journey back to shore unscathed, with a sail not fully functioning after the turtle. Except that I merlion-ed.
Thank God for the sailor who was by chance sailing near me when I turtled and shouted advice to me. And thank God for my sailing buddy who was circling around me all the time and helped me get my main sheet back (crucial in getting your boat moving). So thankful and grateful #sailing #adventure #outdoor #opensea
